A Word

***Wacken 2018 - view from the Jägermeister Deer

Live gigs are essential. Remembering them is sometimes even more fun (but writing tedious ;-). Short stories about great gigs - and the others as well. This is strictly non-commercial and just my humble taste/opinion.

Type O Negative + Support

Location: Libro Music Hall, Südportalstraße, 1020 Vienna, Austria
I will never forget this gig. It is Type O Negative at the top of their career, 'October Rust' was just out and 'Bloody Kisses' had marked a great hit before. The special guests in no way match the main act, so let's switch to Type O Negative immediately.

Notice the logo of 'Why Not' on the ticket, it was the best music store in town these days.

Buddies: Jochen, Harald and others (Cloudy and Birgit were there as well)
Score: 5 out of 5
Another gig? n/a, RIP Peter Steele

Peter Steele's bass playing and vocal performance stands in the centre of a perfect gig. The entire band plays it without any flaws. An out-of-space 'Black Number One', including soap bubbles raining down on the band, 'Cinnamon Girl' (for a long time, I did not even know that this is a Neil Young cover), and 'Summer Breeze', just to give a few examples. I am unsure about how many songs they played from 'October Rust'. This gig largely contributed for my endorsement of Type O Negative.
