A Word

***Wacken 2018 - view from the Jägermeister Deer

Live gigs are essential. Remembering them is sometimes even more fun (but writing tedious ;-). Short stories about great gigs - and the others as well. This is strictly non-commercial and just my humble taste/opinion.

08 December 1996

Type O Negative + Support

Location: Libro Music Hall, Südportalstraße, 1020 Vienna, Austria
I will never forget this gig. It is Type O Negative at the top of their career, 'October Rust' was just out and 'Bloody Kisses' had marked a great hit before. The special guests in no way match the main act, so let's switch to Type O Negative immediately.

Notice the logo of 'Why Not' on the ticket, it was the best music store in town these days.

Buddies: Jochen, Harald and others (Cloudy and Birgit were there as well)
Score: 5 out of 5
Another gig? n/a, RIP Peter Steele

Laibach II - old Gasometer

Location: Wiener Gasometer, Guglgasse 6, 1110 Wien, Österreich
One of the very special gigs never to be forgotten - imagine the following:
Venue: Old Vienna Gasometer prior to its revitalization, thus a real Gasometer
Set: Laibach was supposed to support Type'O'Negative, they cancelled, and Laibach took over
Thanks to the archives of laibach.org, I could reconstruct this gig after a very long time.

Buddies: Stolli (unsure about the others)
Score: 5 out of 5

It was Laibach's tour to promote their stellar NATO release.

(to be completed)

26 April 1996

Laibach I

Location: Szene Wien, Hauffgasse 26, 1110 Vienna, Austria
If you want to see something completely different, then always consider Laibach. Yes, there has been much playback, but the show is it worth it.

Look at this fancy ticket - back in 1996, Szene Wien even did not produce band tickets!

Buddies: Michaela, Flyingsheep
Score: 3 out of 5
Go again: Might be interesting
