A Word

***Wacken 2018 - view from the Jägermeister Deer

Live gigs are essential. Remembering them is sometimes even more fun (but writing tedious ;-). Short stories about great gigs - and the others as well. This is strictly non-commercial and just my humble taste/opinion.

Alanis Morisette

Location: Szene Wien, Hauffgasse 26, 1110 Vienna, Austria
Another gem of a gig. Alanis Morisette in the cozy Szene Wien, she had just released her album "Jagged Little Pill" very close to this gig. I just have the EP "You Oughta Know" with me and knew her very rocky video of this song from MTV.

Message to Alanis: Please, please start rocking again, that's what you really are good in!

Buddies: Han (THX MATE FOR THAT TICKET), Pez
Score: 5 out of 5
Another gig: only with a similar rocking Alanis Morisette, so highly unlikely

So it is Alanis Morisette just a few weeks prior to her breakthrough success release of "Jagged Little Pill" on the globe. For me, the most important thing is that this gig is a real rock gig. I've never heard anything that hard and rocky from Alanis Morisette thereafter. Which is a shame because this image would have fitted nicely to her for a longer period of time.

At that time, her setlist apparently contained all of her songs from "Jagged Little Pill", nothing else. Endless kudos to the guitar player, who brought a very decent toughness in Alanis' songs. After that gig, it was clear to me that I needed to have that CD - and compared to the energy of this gig, it was even a bit disappointing.

So a real perfect gig at these times.
